Date: August 14, 2022
The Tanzania Ending Child Marriage Network (TECMN), co-founded by FORWARD, has launched its latest report, ‘Sharing Our Insights, Journey and Learning’. In Tanzania, 36% of women were married off before the age of 18. The report outlines TECMN’s vision and objectives for a Tanzania free from child marriage, as well as the outcomes of its previous three-year strategic plan, which include collaboration with parliamentarians, work with religious leaders, media advocacy and national litigation.
The report, launched in June 2022, to mark the Day of the African Child, concludes with calls for an inclusive, holistic, multi-sector and multi-level approach to tackling child marriage in Tanzania. It shares TECMN’s new strategic plans, including campaigning for children’s rights and gender studies to be on school curricula, improving girls’ education and producing better data on child marriage.
