Violence Against Women in the European Union – Comparison of the EU Istanbul Convention & The UN CEDAW Convention

September 25, 2017 – Violence against women and girls is one of the most serious human rights issues in Europe and across the world. One in three women in the EU have experienced physical or sexual violence since the age of 15, 75% of women professionals or those in top management have been subjected to sexual harassment, while one in ten women have experienced sexual harassment or stalking by means of new forms of technology. In 2015, roughly 215,000 violent sexual crimes were recorded by police in the European Union.
