CEDPA is pleased
to announce the second in its WomenLead
workshop series
WomenLead
in Promoting Peace and Stability
October
23 – November 17, 2006
WomenLead in Promoting Peace and
Stability
strengthens the technical expertise, leadership abilities and program management
skills of women working
to transform post-conflict societies. When countries emerge from conflict,
there is a window of opportunity to advance women’s leadership,
foster democratic
culture and create new policy frameworks, governing structures and institutions.
Enhancing the leadership, management and advocacy skills of women ensures that
they are able to
effectively participate in and shape peace processes and post-conflict
reconstruction. Their involvement
improves stability, ensures accountability and fosters government inclusiveness.
Participants
~
CEDPA recruits women with a
high level of motivation, the ability to articulate their intentions, and
a strong desire to make a difference in
their communities. This workshop is designed for early and mid-career
women from NGOs, faith-based organizations, advocacy groups, government, the
private sector and political institutions who work in post-conflict
reconstruction at community, sub-national or national levels. Fluency in English is
required.
Overview
~ CEDPA
provides a supportive and participatory learning environment for south-south
exchange of best practices and experiences, technical depth, strategy
development and skill building.
WomenLead offers up-to-date technical knowledge and
highlights successful approaches for
community and civil society participation in reconstructing and revitalizing
essential institutions and services; promoting multisectoral alliances and
increased accountability; and strengthening women’s participation in political
and decision-making processes. Improved competencies in leadership, management,
fundraising, communications and advocacy prepare workshop participants to assume
increased responsibility and accountability at individual, organizational and
community levels. The workshop includes site visits to related programs, NGOs
