Summary
The present
report, submitted in response to General Assembly resolution 60/140, provides proposals for enhancing the
methods of work of the Commission on the Status of Women through the development
of the multi-year programme of work for the period 2007-2009. The proposals are based
on the work of the Commission since
1996, the outcome of the 10-year review and appraisal of the implementation of
the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the outcomes of the
twenty-third special session of the
General Assembly and the 2005 World Summit as well as the experience of other functional commissions of
the Economic and Social Council.
