INFECTED WOMAN
Poem by
Miriam Wandia Kaloki
I thought I could hold it
I thought I could guard it
Seems, I thought wrong
It was a tragedy
Still is a tragedy
That I am unable to enjoy it
That I am unable to appreciate it
The gift of being a woman
Just because they took away everything
Everything that I held dear
In a very brutal way
Never to be the same again
Now slowly I die
Because they left me a bug
One that is eating me up slowly
Day by day
The medication does not matter
Because I am infected
And cannot be disinfected
